[Still smiling she grabs him by the wrist and pulls him forward... long enough to drop a handcuff on said wrist.]

One thousand dollars?

[Shit. He probably should've seen this coming. He tries to pull his wrist away, but it's pretty damn hard when there's a handcuff on it.]

Me earning money?

[She swings around and makes a grab for his other hand.]

[And remarkably, he isn't quick enough to pull away, although that's probably due to bafflement more than anything else.]

Is this about what happened a couple weeks ago?

[About him robbing this place? Undoubtedly.]

Among other things. You've been going around robbing quite a few things. People haven't been happy. And there you are with your picture on a wanted poster.

[Click goes the second wrist.]

Ain't like I'm the only one around here robbin' things. People do what they gotta do to get by.

[And really, he's taking this all very well, considering.]

Oh, I know, sweetheart. But you're the one I've currently caught.

[She's wondering if he'll pull something. She's going to take any weapons he's got while she's man handling him.]

[Let's hope she's looking pretty thoroughly -- he's got several guns, not to mention a knife in his boot.]

And you get a whole hell of a lot of money out of the deal. Great. Where's that leave me?

[She is.]

In a jail cell?

[Bum pat.]

Aw, c'mon. What a waste. I'd be a hell of a lot more useful to you as a free man.

[She can do all the bum-patting she wants. Go right on ahead.]

Oh, really? How do you figure that?

[trenchknives]

You like money. I don't think you care all that much about the law, when it comes right down to it.

[water_wine_wizard]

Everyone likes money, darling. It's keeps people fed and all that good stuff.

[But she's not telling him to shut up, so that's a good thing. However she is pushing him towards the door. This really isn't the sort of conversation you want to have in front of the guy who got robbed and you're supposed to be turning in.]

Sure it does. That's why I rob little places like this.

[He's perfectly happy being pushed towards the door, at least. He probably shouldn't stick around here much longer, and besides, he's handcuffed. What's he going to do, make a break for it?]

There are other ways to go about it. Like picking up folks like you.

Yeah, well, bounty hunting's never been my kinda job.

Just prefer to make my livin' in a more honest way, that's all.

Bounty huntin' not honest? But taking money from people who've earned it is? Who smacked you upside the head as a child?

A fair few people, actually.

[He gives a cocky shrug.]

The way I see it, at least I'm honest about bein' a criminal. You break all kinds of laws, 'n pretend you're doin' the right thing just 'cause you're catchin' guys like me.

I catch guys like you so you stop robbing people. And how exactly is that supposed to convince me that you're more useful as a free man?

[trenchknives]

Because I could make you more money as a free man. You put me in jail, well, you get one payout from the authorities, 'n that's it. You let me stay outta jail, I can just keep on makin' money.

And you're going to be giving me some of this money?
