[He hears her voice, but for a second, he doesn't believe it. Not until he turns around with the biggest goddamn smile on his face and really confirms it for himself.]

Ruby! When the hell'd you get back?!

[glamorsongstress]

[She throws her arms around him, looking overjoyed both that he's here and that he's so happy to see her.]

About three days ago.

[trenchknives]

I'm so fuckin' glad to...

[Hold on, he has to pause midway through his sentence to go in for a kiss. No, he's not asking, he's just going for it. Oops.]

[glamorsongstress]

[She smiles against his lips, holding him close and returning the kiss with passion.]

[trenchknives]

[After a few seconds -- passionate seconds, of course, because he rarely does anything half-heartedly -- he breaks away to grin at her.]

So, you're back for good this time?

[glamorsongstress]

It looks like it. I'm glad, really. I didn't think I'd come back.

[trenchknives]

Yeah, I didn't think you would, either, 'n I missed you like hell.

[glamorsongstress]

[She leans forward to kiss him on the cheek.]

I missed you, too. I mean, I didn't know that I did, back in my own time I didn't remember any of this, but as soon as I got back here I missed you twice as much to make up for that.

[trenchknives]

I'm glad to hear it.

[Seriously, if his grin got much wider, it'd take over his whole face.]

Y'know, not a whole lot's changed here, but it sure is good to see a familiar face.

[glamorsongstress]

You're telling me. I was half afraid everyone I knew would be gone.

[trenchknives]

No such luck, kid. You're stuck with me 'n the rest of us.

[glamorsongstress]

That doesn't sound like such a bad prospect.

[trenchknives]

Well, I'd be pretty damn happy for it. You got no idea how lonely I've been since you left.

[glamorsongstress]

I think I may have some idea. [It's said quietly, not wanting to compete in outdoing feelings of loneliness, just admitting her own alongside his.] But hey, you don't have to be lonely now. They couldn't get me to leave even if they tried.

[trenchknives]

Well, I sure ain't glad to hear you've been lonely, but...

[He slings an arm around her, pulls her close again, and kisses her on the top of the head.]

... now we just gotta make up for lost time.

[glamorsongstress]

[She rests her head on his shoulder.]

That sounds just perfect to me.

[trenchknives]

How's a fancy dinner or two sound to you?

[glamorsongstress]

How about I go one better - name any dish you like and I'll cook it for you.

[trenchknives]

Yeah?

[Oh, home-cooked meals. He's a sucker for 'em.]

You good at makin' steak?

[glamorsongstress]

That all depends on how you like your steak.

[trenchknives]

As far as I'm concerned, medium rare's about the only good way to have it.

[glamorsongstress]

That's because you are a man of taste. If you'd said you liked it well done, I'd have said I can't cook it; I'm not about to ruin a perfectly good steak like that. But I can certainly do that, and it would be a pleasure to cook for you.

[trenchknives]

Who the hell eats well done steak? I mean, that just ain't right.

[A grin.]

But I'm glad to hear you don't object to medium rare.

[glamorsongstress]

I think I'd find it difficult to object to you, either way.

[trenchknives]

[It'd be hard to imagine his grin getting any more flirtatious, at this point.]

I'll keep that in mind.
