[With the glass full, she sips at it, feeling the burn in her throat before setting it down. Whiskey has never been one of her good friends, but that's never stopped Angela before.]

[Her name's Angela. Of course. He can't help but laughing. His luck with women named Angela has been notably bad.]

Jimmy. Nice to meet you.

What's so funny?

[Other than him being so drunk already that everything and anything is hilarious right now.]

Your name. I mean, your name ain't funny, I just know someone with that name that doesn't like me too much.

[He shrugs and takes another long swig from his drink.]

She the reason why you're telling your sorrows to Jack?

[Angela's nosy. Jimmy will have to deal with it.]

Yeah, sure, you could put it that way.

[That's certainly how he'd put it, if pressed to put it any particular way.]

What'd you do?

[Because being an Angela, she knows Angelas have a reason not to like somebody. And said reasons are usually valid.]

Actually, she, uh, left me. For a neighbor.

technically this did kinda happen, though it was the photo lady and she wasnt a neighbor lol

[Angela truly is. Maybe he did something wrong, maybe he didn't. He doesn't seem to be giving up any more details so she can't really say much more than general sympathies.]

What's a girl like you doin' alone in a place like this?

[She laughs, dipping her olives into the whiskey before pulling off another one.]

Thought I had a date.

[trenchknives]

And the guy stood you up? What an asshole.

[He'd never have stood her up for a date. Especially not if she was wearing a dress like that.]

I'm hoping he got hit by a car on the way there and that's why he didn't show up. Valid emergency.

[Wow. A little gruesome, but hey, it's a honest response. She wasted an hour waiting with no call and definitely no show and it got worse when the waiter asked if she was sure she had the right restaurant. Compassion? Angela has none for that guy.]

[See, that's the kind of talk that amuses him. He likes her even more already.]

Yeah, hopefully. Or maybe he got into a fight for bein' an asshole, 'cause he obviously is.

Maybe. Or he fell off a roof and broke his neck. Whatever causes him the most pain that he couldn't call to cancel, really.

[And she sips her whiskey all ladylike, like she didn't even wish suffering on a person.]

Maybe he ran off with the Angela I know. Guess that means the only option'd be for us to run off together, too.

[He's just going to pour himself some more of that whiskey now.]

[Angela stares at him for a moment and then breaks out into good-natured laughing.]

That was an awful segue into a pickup line and you know it.

[He grins in response.]

Sure, but you gotta give me points for tryin', right?

[He's never really been the pickup line type. Not the good pickup line type, at least.]

You get a D at best. You pass, but you really need to up your game.

[She's heard worse, though. At least he didn't try it any earlier in the conversation.]

Okay, well, I gotta say, the whiskey's workin' against me on that level. I'll start over, ask you the normal questions. Like, y'know, what d'you do, what d'you enjoy, can I buy you a drink...

[He offers her the bottle again.]

I'm an artist. [She is not going to tell him about her second job. He doesn't need to know that she handles skulls all day.] I like artist things, I like traveling, music, dogs, pretty things and yes you can buy me a drink.

[trenchknives]

[If he did know about her second job, he wouldn't be alarmed. Then again, he understands not talking about certain aspects of your job.]

Okay, yeah, those're all good things. What kinda drink d'you want?

[Because it would probably be nice to get her something better than the whiskey he's been drinking all night.]

Another martini would be nice before the whiskey kicks in.

[Angela's not picky about her alcohol, but she also needs to get herself home later. She needs to pace herself.]

While that's going, you can tell me who Jimmy is and what he likes.

[He gestures for the bartender to come over, orders her another martini, and then turns his attention back to her.]

I guess you could say I'm an entrepreneur. I used to be in the army. I like dogs 'n traveling too. 'n reading.

An entrepreneur doing what?

[She's only casually asking to keep the conversation moving as she pulls her hair up off her back and neck, twisting it into a bun. It's not like she can judge on work history; she only recently started keeping a job for longer than a few months]
